About the Instructors


Stacy Schroder

Stacy Schroder - Serene Yoga Studio Owner



E-RYT 500 Yoga Actions

As a longtime student of yoga and meditation, Stacy has studied with a variety of teachers throughout the years. She completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program in 2000 and later completed the 200 yoga teacher training at Yoga Centre Winnipeg.

In 2008, she founded Serene Yoga Studio, a place where her classes focus on yoga actions, meditation and philosophy. She has also shared her knowledge with Team Canada Women’s volleyball team while being their yoga and mindfulness meditation teacher for four years.

Stacy, along with Helen Maupin and Candace Propp, have designed The Yoga Actions 200 hour teacher training program, and 500 hour professional development program. They have also co-authored a regular yoga column in the Winnipeg Free Press since 2015.

The yogic way of life has expanded Stacy’s awareness and her extensive travel has deepened her practice in so many ways. She is deeply grateful for the sangha (community) she is part of and her hope is to share with her students the joy and serenity she has found through this practice.  


Roslyn Sutherland

Roslyn Sutherland - Studio Director



Roslyn is a Yoga and Meditation Instructor and Wellness Coach.
She received her training from Maureen Rae (RN, E-RYT), who is widely known for innovative yoga sequences that focus on gentle stretching, physical strengthening and breathing techniques.

For more than 20 years Roslyn has incorporated yoga into her daily routine and she understood early that physical, mental and spiritual strength are fundamental to healing and healthy living..

What defines Roslyn as a Yoga and Meditation teacher and Wellness Coach is her holistic approach to health and wellbeing combined with her 20 years of experience and expertise.



Shell Andrea

Shell Andrea - Studio Manager



Shell was introduced to Yoga 20 years ago, when she was recuperating from injuries related to a car accident.

She quickly developed her philosophy of doing yoga for her OWN body without worrying whether or not she was able to touch her toes or bend like the rest of the class.

Shell completed her Yoga Teacher Trainings through the South Okanagan Yoga Academy and Sammartino Yoga in British Columbia at the RYT500 level. She is also trained in Thai Yoga Massage therapy.

She continues to learn not only from her many cherished yoga teachers, but also through the wisdom and experiences of her students.



Candra Hanstead

Candra was attracted to the practice of yoga in 2003 when the first class she attended left her with a sense of inner peace.

She completed her training in 2008 at the Yoga Centre Winnipeg and loves sharing the yoga experience with others.



Bryanna Spina

Bryanna Spina



Bryanna is thrilled to share her passion for yoga with children and families at Serene Yoga Studio. She was introduced to yoga as a young girl by her own mother and in turn, wishes to spread the benefits of yoga to all ages. She believes that yoga establishes a strong foundation for everyone’s life journey.

Trained by Rainbow Kids Yoga in Toronto, she is a Children’s, Family and Community Yoga Instructor, certified through Yoga Alliance USA.

For the past two years, she has been sharing yoga with schools, day cares and community centres and has recently created Prairie Roots Yoga, a mobile yoga company. Bryanna is inspired by her 3 beautiful children who love to share their boundless energy, creativity and wonderment of the world around them.



Larry Isacoff

Larry has been teaching Yoga since 2008. He is Yoga Centre Winnipeg Certified (500 Hour).

He divides his time between teaching yoga and working on interesting theatre productions as a lighting designer.



Sara Hamel

Sara Hamel



Sara began her yoga journey at York University where she attended a free Kripalu yoga workshop with a friend. It was love at first cobra. She then moved to the end of the earth, Happy Valley Goose Bay Labrador and taught Yoga there for 13 years.

Sara received her training at the Kripalu School of Yoga in Massachusetts. She then moved to Winnipeg and was offered the opportunity to train as a Yoga for Round Bodies instructor. Being a woman in a larger body herself, Sara was overjoyed to be able to bring Yoga to this like bodied population.



Alaina Demarcke

With a passion for health and human physiology, Alaina graduated in 2006 from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Kinesiology, majoring in health and wellness. After teaching swimming and aquatic fitness for over a decade, and many years of practicing yoga, Alaina decided to deepen her yoga practice through the teacher training program at Serene Yoga Studio, and is now excited to share her experience with others.

Rita Wehrle

Rita Wehrle



Rita is an enthusiastic and dedicated practitioner of several styles of hatha-inspired yoga who has been nourished and inspired by yoga teachers and students both in Alberta and in Manitoba. She has had the opportunity to awaken her body-mind-spirit connection to expression and possibility through travel to destinations including India and Central & South America.

The intention of Rita’s yoga practice is to facilitate a peaceful reconciliation with her own true nature and she invites others to join her on this life-affirming journey. Come from a place of curiosity and break-open in a practice intended to create positive inner flow, well BE-ing and union with others.

Cassidy Peleuses

Cassidy Peleuses



Cassidy began her yoga practice at Serene Yoga in 2012, where she was immediately moved by the sense of community and acceptance that welcomed her at each class. Cassidy is very grateful for the incredible teachers who inspired her to deepen her practice and begin her yoga teacher training in 2015.

Cassidy studied the ‘Chakra Balance and Cleanse’ series with Michelle La-Rue in 2014, and completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program with Narda Singh in 2016. Cassidy has also studied the ‘Introduction to Kids Yoga Actions Module 1’ with Bryanna Spina, as well as the Raven Feather Reiki Teachings Levels I and II with Reiki Master Michael Allen in 2017. She is grateful for the many ways yoga has enriched her life, and is eager to continue her learning.

Nicole Leeson

Nicole Leeson



Nicole is a student of Serene Yoga Studio currently working on completing her 200-hour teaching certification. Her teachers have inspired her to continue to learn and commit to a practice of Yoga both on and off the mat. Through her teaching, Nicole hopes to create space for students to explore and experience their breath, body and mind and in doing so cultivate a deeper relationship with their Self.

Jodi Persad

Jodi Persad



Jodi began her 200 hour teacher training certification with Serene Yoga Studio, in 2015. Bringing with her over 25 years of dance instructor experience, she hopes to bring both worlds together. Guiding and sharing her knowledge with love and passion in the most humble and creative way possible, she is thankful to all whom wish to join her and share in the journey together.

Through SYS Jodi also completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program with Narda Singh, in early 2016. She is ready and open to the experiences that are instore for her moving forward and working on fulfilling her 500 hour certification with SYS.

Helen Maupin

Helen Maupin



Helen is passionate about transforming fear into love — from her, for her, for all. She expresses her commitment to transformation through writing poetry, self-awareness and yoga books, co-designing organizations into adaptive enterprises and deepening her daily meditation and yoga practices.

Helen maintains her personal yoga practice and her Yoga Actions teacher training programs deeply enrich her transformational journey and provide a much-loved spiritual community.
