Q: Are there beginner classes?

All of our instructors are well trained to adjust to different levels of yoga experience in their respective classes.

Q: My mobility is limited due to arthritis in my knees and my hips. What classes do you recommend?

In our All Levels class we focus on proper alignment. Instructors offer many adjustments or substitutions to suit the needs of all our students. Our Yin class as well as our Relax and Restore class are excellent options since they are therapeutic in nature. Props are used to support you in the various postures.

Always inform all instructors of any health concern.

Q: Will yoga help me lose weight?

Yes. Studies have shown that yoga encourages weight loss by helping you expend energy and build muscle mass. It will also assist you in making better food choices, which will make you feel full and energized instead of lethargic and bloated. In addition, the relaxation aspect of yoga counteracts stress which can help reduce emotional eating.

Q: I have an injury and my doctor says I should do yoga. What should I do?

Send us an email briefly describing your health concern. Our customer service team will respond and provide you with guidance regarding the appropriate classes. When you come to the studio, please inform the instructor of your situation.

Q: Do you offer Pre-natal Yoga?

All of our instructors are trained to teach Pre-natal yoga and every posture can be modified to a pre-natal pose for the trimester that you are in. Pre-natal customers often attend our regular classes, though you might find the All Levels and Relax and Restore classes would be the best fit.

Q: Where can I go to learn more about my pregnancy and pending birth of my child?

Our friends at Birth Roots Doula Collective will be happy to help you with all your questions regarding pregnany, birth and the postpartum process.

Q: What should I wear?

Loose fitting exercise or yoga clothing; you need to be able to move comfortably. No footwear or socks.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A yoga mat. If you don't have one, we do have high quality mats available for rent at a cost of $1. These mats are cleaned after each use.

We also have studio quality mats for sale at exceptional prices.

Q: What type of payment do you accept?

We accept Cash, Interac, Visa and MasterCard.

Q: I missed a Family/Kids yoga class. Can I make it up?

We run family/kids sessions in the same way as most other registration programs. Like swimming classes booked through the Leisure guide, there is no option to make up a missed class.

Q: What is the Karma class?

This is a free class held at our studio almost every month. It features a different day of the week, time, teacher and style every time. A $5 donation is recommended with all proceeds donated to a good cause here in Winnipeg. Please take a look at our Home page on the website to find out when the next Karma class will take place.

Q: Do you sell Yoga products?

We sell some locally produced items as well as a selection of Halfmoon Yoga products. The articles from Halfmoon are sold at a discount as there are no shipping charges and no tax added to the price.

Q: Is the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program covered by Employee Assistance programs such as Blue Cross?

Insurance companies offer a wide range of benefits so its best to double check with your provider or Human Resources practitioner.

Q: What is your cancellation policy regarding regular and/or specialty classes and workshops?

If you are unable to attend a regular class that you booked online, as a courtesy to other yogis, please log into your Serene Yoga Studio account to cancel the reservation. If you're cancelling a booking more than 24 hours in advance your pass will not be charged. However, if you cancel your reservation with less than 24 hours notice, your pass will be charged as if you attended the class.

If you have an unlimited pass this does not apply, but out of respect to others and the instructors we still ask you to cancel your booking if you are not able to attend.

For Specialty classes and workshops, please note that for a full refund we require 7 days notice prior to the first class of the Specialty class or workshop.

Q: Can I purchase a yoga pass online?

Absolutely! Please click on the 'Book Online' tab at the top of this page, which will open up a new window. Then select the 'Online Store' tab and follow the prompts on the screen.

Q: I would like to book private yoga and/or meditation classes. Is this possible?

Q: Our organisation would like to hire a yoga teacher. How do we go about arranging this?
